which processor is better for gaming and whats their pros and cons?
AMD Pro: cheap Con: outdated technology Intel Pro: fast, efficient technolgy Con: Expensive AMD line that can still be worth looking for me is FX6100 for budget building gaming pc that still want to get max setting. other than that, go intel
There in no answer for this question.... anyone who says one is better then the other is a idiot and knows nothing.... The best cpu is the one with the best performance for your budget (But even if on a budget, you should definitely steer more money into graphics then the cpu anyway) VERY low budget = Amd A4 series (for budgets $400 and under) Low budget = Amd A8 series (for budgets under $600) med budget= core i3 2xxx (for budgets under $800) large budget = core i5 2xxx/3xxx (anything thats like above $800 budget) This is strictly for gaming ONLY. And this is about the cpu you should use for these budgets (even though you can get maybe better on that budget) but again spend AS MUCH as you can on your graphics card. Your cpu should NOT cost more then your graphics card in a gaming computer.... (and so you know the amd a8-3850 is better then any of the amd phenom II x4 cpus by itself. Also the amd A-series cpus have integrated graphics that can crossfire with the amd 6450/6570/6670, to offer really good price/performance on low budget builds. That makes it that much better then the phenoms) Also i believe amd is releasing their 2nd generation bulldozer and A-series cpus soon (this will put a MUCH bigger gap between the A-series, and the 3 generation old phenoms....) @anon you are FKING RETARDED.... (not to mention BLIND and ILLITERATE.. i NEVER ONCE said ANYTHING about the amd FX cpus in my statement....) show me ONE GAMING benchmark the phenom II x4 beats an amd a8-3850? ONE.... Also the phenom II x4s arnt even manufactured anymore, so they are already sold out on new cpus (only OEM or refurbished or used ones....) The amd a4 are like $50-60, and a8-3850 is like $100. There is no cpus that are $100 or less that are better for low budget builds. Also the amd motherboard are far cheaper. So even though the i3 2100 is better (its also $120-130) but a H61 motherboard is still $50+ Im sorry i know MUCH more then you do, and have MUCH more experience in computers....
once you've the $, bypass with: Intel i5 2500k processor GeForce GTX 660 Ti or HD 7850/7870/7950/7970 etc etc images card 8gb RAM 1333 or 1600MHz 120+gb SSD (for OS/video games) 500+gb HD (for music/even if else you want) and also you'll by no skill run into an difficulty gaming. once you're on a funds, get: AMD 965 BE processor or an AMD FX 4100 or AMD FX 4170 GTX 550 Ti / GTX 560 Ti / HD 6850 / HD 6870 images playing cards 8gb RAM 1333 or 1600MHz 500+gb HD both way you could play video games on Med/intense
get an i5 2500k/3570K. Edit: @ the other commenter: i5 2500K is $200 and will smoke the 4 module &8 core& Bulldozer in most things. If you actually need the benefits of HT on a video encoding machine or heavily loaded server, then you are better off with the FX rather than a $300 i7. The ONLY Intel CPUs that cost $1000 are the top-end that nobody actually buys anyways. And again, I can't stress enough how much of a flop Bulldozer is, or the fact that most people will not use 4 cores much less 8. You want per-core performance on a home desktop and Intel wins with a landslide with the i3/i5's. Edit 2: Oh nice link, Mark. I'll have to throw that link around too. Edit 3: Filenotfound is spreading misinformation. Older AMD tech is best bang for buck for gaming. The FX chips only have a rightful place on business/video encoding machines that actually benefit from 8 integer schedulers.
