I have a house with a flat roof without any attic. It gets quite hot in the summer. I am thinking to use wooden pallets (those typically used in warehouse) and place them on the roof and link them side by side as a cheap way to block the heat from the sun and reduce cooling bill in the summer. Maybe add a layer of reflective material on the top of pallets. Do you think that it would work and last for a few years? We don't have tornado in Southern California. Thanks for your input in advance.
