I've tried both steel and aluminum rivets but they easily popped out of the rubber, which I suppose makes sense since they're not meant for rubber. Are there any special rivets I can use for this scenario? Or any other means of connection? What I'm essentially making is a scale plating. The rubber is an inside layer, the sheet metal is cut into small squares or rectangles and layered to where one half is covered by another piece of shining, and the other half is showing.
