I was thinking about building a outdoor wood boiler. any info on what materials are used. is the firebox made from mild steel ?
I had an atmospheric (non pressurized) boiler for 20 years. Although manufactured (Dahl Stoves), it was all mild steel. 300 gal. outer jacket. When using mild steel 'open' you MUST use a boiler treatment additive to retard corrosion. If you don't do that right away, it won't last 10 years. Any specific things you need info on?
