I have some old pipes I‘m replacing (due to a leak) from the city‘s main shutoff to my house, about 20 feet.I believe the old material used was galvanized steel. I am having it replaced with copper piping by professional plumbers - they‘re digging up the yard and driveway to remove the old pipe and place the new one.What is the approximate cost for this? I already have a quote, but just wanted to get people‘s (especially from plumbers) suggestion on what a resonable cost would be for this. Thanks!
YIPE. my next door neighbor had that done and it cost about $3000 and that was 2 years ago. The tubing is about $2 or $3 per foot. then there is the labor.
Why copper? You're being taken to the cleaners! I had 400' of PVC pipe buried 3' deep and backfilled with sand and paid about $4000 for the job.
Hard to guess since the rate for Plumbers changes by area. Copper is at an all-time high cost. Some areas require 1 soft copper piping while others allow smaller diameters. This is a labor intensive job also. In regards to the previous answer, some areas require copper and do not allow PVC to be installed. While it may be cheaper, it is also not likely to last as long.
Check the master cylinder. When this happened to a buddy of mine he found a piece of crud blocking the return.
