Question:

Are all Shark vacuum cleaners really loud?

I bought one and I have to wear earplugs to use it. It doesn't work all that well, either, just good enough. I'm thinking of taking it back. Any suggestions for a good stick vacuum? My case on my Hoover was cracked really badly (where it meets the handle) - that's why I bought the Shark.

Answer:

I had a shark one and got rid of it primarily for the noise. They use such a small motor with alot of rpms which is why they are so loud. Plus it stopped sucking very well after a short period of time. I have a Hoover wind tunnel now which is pretty quiet. It is a generic version of the Dyson. Got it at Walmart for $ 110.00.
Both my hand held and Rally models are so freaking loud. I wear ear plugs, as I feel it is so loud, and I vacuum for quite some time and frequently, it probably could do damage. Be careful with your ears.
Don't go back to Hoover - eventhough they're good vacuums - becuase they can be just as loud....depending on the model, I guess. I hope you have better luck in finding a better one; I'm still searching for something that rids of dirt, not my eardrums.
I only have the hand held shark, bigger than a dustbuster, it is kind of noisy. But I dont take it out much.
