I have a lenovo ideapad Y580, the other day I say smudges on some of the keyboard's keys so I took a cloth and cleaned them but as I was rubbing the key with the cloth I was holding down on the button. Does this damage the keyboard? I'm worried if pressing the key too hard while rubbing it with a cloth might eventually damage the key or even chip the key out.
Keyboards are generally durable enough to handle a cloth, as long as you are gentle with your handling. The only issue that would stem from cleaning your keyboard is the possibility of accidentaly pulling a key out, but all you have to do is pop it back on.
keyboard will surely be good with cloth. chemicals and rough items will definitely scratch your keyboard.
