Question:

Are Sears Cannister Vacuums any good?

I've seen a lot of advertisements for Sears Cannister Vacuums on sale or on closeout recently. Are these vacuums any good, on an absolute level, and also for the money they cost?

Answer:

I clean houses for a living and love it when the house I'm cleaning has a canister vac.I own one myself and wouldn't ever own an upright.
I have been using one for several years...I have a hoover, and a Kirby...........I will take the Sears Canister over either of the three...Better suction....I love mine....
I've had many Sears canister vacuums over the years and love them. I currently have a non-Sears upright and find that it just isn't as versatile. The only negative is finding and changing the bags, which really isn't that bad!
My mother in law had a Sears cannister and after she bought it did nothing but complain about dragging it around behind her or tripping over it. I inherited it after she passed away and hated it for the same reasons; Give me a good old fashioned upright any day. We had a display home cleaning service and used nothing but Eureka and Hoover uprights. Loved both brands. A friend had a Kirby and it was so hard to change the belt on it she had to wait until her son could come to do it for her which was quite often..Another friend has a Oreck and loves it.
