Question:

Are There Light Sensitive Materials?

I know there are, but are there any light sensitive materials that react differently when exposed to light in its three forms (red, blue, green)? I am basically asking if there is a material that reacts to light, and if so, differently to red, green, and blue light, and produces different chemical or electrical output for each of the three.

Answer:

There are many materials that react to light, not only red. blue or green but many other types of light like ultraviolet light or infrared light. have in account that red, green and blue light have different energies (blue more than green more than red) which means irradiating a substance with any of these types of light may produce different chemical reactions or physical changes. A good example of a substance that reacts with light is vitamin D s produced by your skin in response to exposure to ultraviolet radiation from natural sunlight, another example of a substance is chlorophyl which absorbs energy from the sun light starting a chain of reactions called photosynthesis.
