Question:

are these outside DIA. (copper tube) conversions correct?

Hi can anyone confirm if these "outside diameters" are correct for copper pipe?3/8” = 12.7mm?”= 15.8mm?”=22.22mm Many Thanks!

Answer:

Tubing is generally defined by its outside diameter. 1/2 tubing is 12.7 mm od or 1/2od. Pipe is a different story. Pipe sizes are closer to the inside diameter, and also go by a schedule rating, which corresponds to pressure rating.
one inch= 25.4mm half inch= 12.7mm three quarter inch=19.05mm and copper tube nominal imperial to metric equivelents are only roughly stated
Dimensions of copper tubes according to ASTM B88 STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR SEAMLESS COPPER WATER TUBE can be found below: Nominal.......Actual Outside Size ........... Diameter (inches)....(inches).......mm ?..............3/8...............9,52 3/8.............?..............12,70 ? .............5/8.............15,87 5/8..............?.............19,05 ?..............7/8..............22,22 1,00..........1 1/8...........28,57 1 ?...........1 3/8...........34,92 1 ?...........1 5/8...........41,27 2,00..........2 1/8..........53,97
