It could be a motion or heat sensor used to control automatic lighting in a room, or it could be something related to the fire alarm system, such as a smoke or heat detector. I guess it could also be a camera. I think it's a motion/infrared detector but I could be wrong.

If anxiety can be habitual, so can calmness and composure. The best way to avoid anxiety about certain things including the fire alarm is not to think about it. For that, you would need to train your mind to focus on other things. Meditation is a good way to cultivate the habit. When doing meditation, the 1st thing that I learned is to recognize whatever that comes to my mind. I acknowledge its existence, and then forget about it. When I keep repeating that, I will do away with thinking about things I fear or feel irritated.
I wouldn't have told the firemen anything let the firemen investigate the cause of the fire sounds like they used what you told them to blame you for the fire. so if you can't get proof of what started the fire you are doomed to pay the money. sad to say so you didn't have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen all homes need at least one what closet has a hot water heater in it sounds like you were asking for some sort of fire hope it wasn't one with clothes in it. sorry I couldn't be of more help matches don't lite themselves people are sued all the time its not based on what money you have as long as they can get a judgement then you would be forced to find a way to pay it off
