Question:

back boiler pump problems?

Just replaced my back boiler pump and it does not work. Thermostats seems ok.

Answer:

the solenoid valve is not opening remove it, and yes the pump can be bad i have had new installs with bad pumps right out of the box
Its possible the new pump is stuck if there is power on the pump terminals. On some pumps there is some sort of devise on the front centre to enable you to turn the rotor. It may be a knob you need to undo or a large screw cap to remove and then use a small screwdriver on the motor shaft end but put something under the pump as with either method there will be a small loss of water. EDIT check the wiring connections are properly made, its not unknown to catch the insulation and not the conductor and the capacitor connections are sound, failing that it would appear you have a duff pump which is unusual.
Why did you replace the pump in the first place ?, was it burnt out or not working, if it was simply not working it is likely that you have replaced a good pump with a new one, usually the supply to the pump is either from a motorised valve/s or from the programmer /room stat, check if you have mains voltage at the pump terminals, if the previous pump did burn out it is likely that it blew the control fuse in either the main switch or on the boiler pcb. If the system incorporates a motorised valve it is likely that the valve is not opening to actuate the pump / boiler micro switch.
