Question:

bathroom grout on tile?

we had our bathroom redone, it looks great but the guy that did it got some grout on one of the decorative tiles, where it shouldn‘t be. Is there a way to get the grout off ?

Answer:

Perfect answer Rob, took the words right out of my mouth.
Just try to pour vinegar on the tiles to remove grout haze. Vinegar, a mild, non-staining acid, will remove thin layers of grout and grout haze. Let the vinegar set for five minutes. Scrub the surface with a nylon brush. Tile with leftover grout or haze has more friction than tile with a clean surface. Scrub one tile at a time, but complete the entire floor. Then soak up the vinegar from the grout joints with a sponge. Rinse the sponge in a bucket of clean water, then wash the tiles with a clean sponge. If the sponge slides easily over the surface and hits a spot that seems to grip the sponge, scrub that spot with the nylon brush. Allow the surface and the water and vinegar in the grout joints to dry. Polish the tile with a clean, dry rag.
First if your unhappy the tile man should be called to do this. But if you feel you can do it yourself there are a couple ways to do it. If it happens to be a raised or relief style deco use a pc of wood. A small dowel sharpened to a dull point can be used to gently dig out the grout. If its a flat deco tile, scrape off excess with a flat pc of wood or plastic. Never use metal since it can leave a permanent mark on tiles. Fine hazes you can start with a dry rag and work up to a white nylon pad scrub with. When doing a rag or nylon pad do this dry, no water. Water helps reintroduce the grout to the tile. It will depend on the skill of your personal observe. If you think it will look better you may try. After all it your house and the choice is yours. How it will look better you think and if necessary reinstall the tiles.
