Question:

Beginner looking for a good all around starter saw.?

Im 24 years old but have aspirations to be an inventorI have a ton of projects I would like to start but lack the necessary toolsI dont have a ton of money so I cannot buy a whole workshop.Im looking for type of saw that can be used for almost anything (aluminum, wood, metal, drywall, etc.) A type of saw that can cut unusual designs and shapes from most mediums would be greatHowever Im not sure what saws can handle these various applications?I was thinking along the lines of a Rotozip (the commercials make it seem like they can cut anything), or a circular saw, or a jigsaw. What would be best?

Answer:

you can get rustoleum in cans in many colors and metallics at stores like home depot or menards
No, it will scratch off if you use regular acrylic paintWhen I made these angels, I found you could use a metal primer first and then use the craft paint for metals and it would stick without peeling, flaking or scratching offMichael's sells the metal paintsOr you can use home improvement spray paints and the best one is the new Rustoleum Ultimate because it doesn't require a primer and it will stickYou can then paint over that to get detail and color variation with the craft metal paint that Michael's sells(they are by the specialty paints, not in the racks at my store)
I would do what Justin wrote and as far as paint goes I would use small jars of different color Acrylic lacquer paints to paint your art workLacquer is what they use on Autos and is very hard and holds up in the elementsAlso when you are done I would use a can of clear lacquer spray to give it a few coats to protect the paintLet dry between coats. It then should last for 8 or many more years Clean the box real good down to the metal and primer, basically what Justin wrote and then go from thereYou can find this paint at any auto store or craft store, they come in small bottles with twist of caps.
what you need is a cheap circular saw, you can put a blade on it to cut any material, no exaggeration you can actually cut anythingyou will want a straight edge guideif you purchase one it is expensive, you will want to build a shooting board, (google shooting board circular saw) this can be made from a $20 piece of ply wood and you will have 75% of the plywood left over to make stuff with, if you want to be able to odd shapes then you will need a jig saw, you can also use a shooting board with a jig saw to make straight cuts and you can swap blades to cut any material as well however they only work very well on woodI would recommend you buy the circular saw and a jig saw and a sheet of plywood 1/2you will also need a drill $10 for a basic one.
