Question:

bending copper tubing, ive seen plumbers bend the end of a copper piece of pipe or tubing?

What is it called or how do you do it , they bend it like the end of a toothpaste tube and then solder it , i guess it saves time of having to put a cap on it and a quick leak fix, If any one knows what or how to do it thanks for the info

Answer:

Crush the end of the pipe with a pair of pliers. Then using one hammer behind the pipe, flatten it with another hammer. Clen the end of the pipe and file it flat, then flux it and solder it.
I am hungry. Time for dinner.
They make a special pair of pliers for this. They are available at refrigeration supply stores. I've always just called it a crimp tool. I've always used one on the process connection on a compressor. You pull a vacuum, install refrigerant, crimp twice and then solder closed.
Hold a large massive flat steel object against the pipe and use a hammer to gently flatten the copper pipe. Keep swapping sides with the weight and hammering so the pipe closes from both sides. When the pipe has been closed by hammering, the hair line opening in the end of the pipe is then soldered shut. (The heavier the weight you can hold in place the easier, and better, the pipe can be closed.)
