i live in apts, i want to know what is the LIGHTEST bullet for 9mm and 40calif i were to shoot directly into the thin walls, what is a round, for either caliber, that will LOSE most of its dangerous/lethal energy? i know any round, even .22, will penetrate these walls, just curious of what all you think, of what is the best roundds for apt livingbesides frangible.
Glaser Safety Slugs are pretty decent, from what I've heardMagSafe makes a comparable product, as wellOf course, since you want to practice with your carry ammunition, be prepared to spend a LOT of moneyIt's $10 or so for five or six rounds of Glaser Safety SlugsYou'd do better with something like the Fiocchi Sinterfire, which costs around $20-$25 for 50 rounds of 9mm Para (still about twice the cost of basic 9mm Para), or just buying an aluminum baseball batThe rounds I've mentioned are frangible, and I know you said you didn't want to hear about thoseBut really, that's the best option for your situationThere are NO standard bullets that will simply lose their energy passing through interior wallsThat's not a matter of bullet design, but one of physicsEven frangible bullets could potentially pass through an interior wall, since for the most part they're designed to reduce the chance of ricochet at a range, rather than avoid overpenetration for self-defenseThe Glaser and MagSafe options are designed to reduce overpenetration, thoughYour only other real option is to choose a shotgun and get less-than-lethal rounds like rubber buckshotbut then you risk just making an intruder angry.
