Keep the sofa a neutral and go crazy with all kinds of patterns and types of pillows. go to the local thrift store to pick of some colored vases for added color. Also, a large multicolored area rug will help.
Pick a bright or bold accent color and buy several items in that color to put in different areas of the room, the color will pop out and draw the eye and the attention to these areas and make for a new feel in your room. Think couch pillows, flowers or a vase, art for the wall a rug for the floor, things like this. And the great thing is that with the neutral colors like you have now, you can change these accent colors with the seasons to always keep a fresh look and feel to your room.
