For good recording monitors or any speaker system for live sound reinforcement, you will need more money. You can get some pretty decent bookshelf style monitors for home recording in about the upper end of that price range. Good luck.
The type of speakers used for live performance are NOTHING like the type of speakers used in studio. Alesis Monitor One mk2 are excellent in studio.
