This has been a concern of mine for a long time. At home and work, almost every product purchased is wrapped in plastic or the product itself is made of plastic. My concern is not only that it doesn't decompose but the potential danger to the wildlife and domestic animals. I don't want my garbage tossed in the landfill with open bags that animals can get entangled in or their heads stuck in cartons etc. My question is: Is it better to tie the bags before tossing them, cutting containers that could possibly be traps. Please give me your opinion and why your way is best. Thank you in advance.
Find out why your disposal company isn't recycling plastics, they should be. Yes in this day and age almost everything is made of and packaged in plastic. Cutting plastic items so that animals don't get trapped isn't going to help. It is the plastic that ends up in oceans and water that does the most harm to animals. Reduce the amount of items you purchase. Reuse the items that you can as often as you can. Buy things used if possible. I don't understand the question should you tie the bags before tossing.. Tie what bags the plastic store kind after purchase?- No that isn't going to do anything. Tie the garbage bag that holds trash? Yes, you don't want to have any garbage flying around or getting unwanted critters. Oh and one more thing if you cut apart the part of the plastic that has the number of what kind of plastic it is there will be no chance for the unlabeled plastic to get recycled. I'm still in awe that your garbage co and your city for that matter isn't recycling.
Just throw it in the recycle I do it with cheeto bags. Also Garfalo Pasta wrappers are recyclable they have the sugn on them too. I have been throwing all of my chips and plastic wrappers in recycle I have not had any problems.
Check with your garbage company and see if they offer recycling. Ours gave us some bins and we throw all our stuff that can be recycled and set them out by the road on garbage day abed they come pick It up.
Unfortunately, almost anything in our society causes harm - from air pollution to plastics to endangering animals. My opinion is to buy things that are less packaged. Plastic takes up lots of space and whether you tie the bags or not, they still get dumped into landfills and burned which causes air pollution. As long as your trash doesn't get into the drains, the animals are still able to remain in their habitats
Well, then make your own recycling bin all you need is a trash bag dedicated to just plastic even make a sign above the trash bag saying plastic only. Or you can call your garbage company or if you can catch the garbage truck picking up your trash and ask do they provide bins just for plastic? I did this and got one. Hope you do to. Good luck.
