You Americans call it 'clear-coat' - it can yellow under sunlight, and need to be abraded off with a gentle wetdry sandingThen you can either re-laquer from an aerosol can - make a few passes with a fine dusting of spray and let each one dry for 20 mins, in the shade on a hot day - or you can polish it with Autosol, which is like a tube of toothpasteGreat stuff, lasts for ages, but takes some real effort to get all that alloy gleaming.
