No it is not. you could break a hand or somebody's face. It is better for you to spar by buying just regular boxing gloves of a lower brand. Than doing it with the sparring gloves. It's dangerous for everybody involved. Sparring gloves are also used for hitting other things than human flesh.
a regular jacket with reflectors will be more effective; especially at nite. they make some cool sport wear with reflective material! florescent is USELESS at nite!
you can use a shark-bite connection. they have them at HD. you just cut the pipe and stick this connection in. no tools needed. except to cut the pipe

Uhm, I never wore one on my moped, but if they are being stupid about it, explain you have lights, so cars will see you, or just take it off when you get down the road, then put it on when you're near your house again.
