Question:

Boiling point of aluminum?

Hello, I know some people use foil and a water bottle to smoke weed and there's a lot of confusion as to whether it is bad or not. I know the boiling point of aluminum is very high but is lighting it on fire for like 3 seconds at a time enough for it to change form and be inhaled? Does the fact that it turns black af5er being used to smoke mean the rest of the aluminum was inhaled? Please give me a scientific answer.

Answer:

Being an avid partaker in the use of marijuana myself (and being a chem major) I can tell you it is very bad for you. When you stretch a metal into very thin sheets (like aluminum foil or tin foil) you increase it's surface area. When you increase something's surface area it's more susceptible to vaporize. It's not as bad as tin foil which is quite TERRIBLE to smoke out of. People are under the assumption that smoking out of an Al (aluminum) bowl will result in the inhalation of a large amount of Al which isn't true. What IS bad for you however is the heat/smoke interacting with the plastic. In the grand scheme of things, I used to use them and stopped after my professor told me the dangers. Go out and get yourself a cheap bowl for 10 bucks if you're that desperate (not to sound rude considering I know the struggles haha).
I find it funny that you are so faithful and God-fearing that you can't have sex with your girlfriend, yet you can do drugs. It's truly amusing. I believe this perfectly describes all followers of religions. Thank you
