Question:

Bored cat?

I'm a university student on a budget, so does anyone have good ideas on how to keep my cat occupied while I'm out of the apartment without spending lots? Unfortunately, getting another cat to keep her company isn't an optionShe has catnip mice and loves balls made out of paper or aluminum foil, but I'd like something more entertaining to keep her from getting too bored when she's aloneAny suggestions?

Answer:

How about a paper bag (cut the handles off first) or a box, cut some holes in it and make her a househang a catnip mouse in it etcmine always liked newspaper lightly crinkled up, they'd jump in it and on it and hide under itTo this day mine also love fabric ponytail elastics, I find them all over the houseTake a few things out that are small and easy to move around, you'll be surprised at what she will play with.
Rub the lettuce with lime or lemon juice because it has acidity to oxidize itThen wrap the lettuce in a damp cloth (make sure its not wet) or towel to keep it moist, drying will make it wilt and diePut it in a zip lock bag inside the crisper of your fridgeIt should last 5 days longer.
Lettuce is touchy and hard to keep for very long, but you can keep it a tad bit longer if you keep it in an airtight container, like tupperware, and if you have enough room in that container, turn a saucer upside down in the bottom of it and place the lettuce head on top of thatAll of the water moisture that the lettuce normally sits in and turns brown from will run down the saucer and collect underneath.
keep it tightly sealedTry a couple more layers of wrap or even a Glad storage size baggie, make sure it's in a crisper as wellthe less air the longer it will lastAnother suggestion is if your just using it for taco's or salads try the Salad Express in a bag stuffthey even have just shredded lettuceYes it's a little more expensive but it lasts MUCH longer than a regular head of lettuce.
If the lettuce is already shredded/cut, put it in a container and fill with enough water to cover lettuce completely and store in the fridgeThat should work.
