Bottom Bracket Question?

I have A Raleigh Technium from the early 90's. How can I figure out whst size bottom bracket to purchase? I want to replace with sealed bearings. Have Sakae cranks. Thanks in advance!

Answer:

Ummm just take out the bottom bracket and take it to a local shop. They'll match it up. You'll need a square taper spindle, my guess is a 121.5mm length. If I were you I'd keep the current setup. They are rebuildable and have MUCH less drag than sealed bearing cartridges. Just take the time to clean everything up, buy some stainless steel replacement balls, and lightly lube with white lithium grease just enough to cover the bearings and cups. If your bearings are in retainers just pop them out and put the new ones in. Carefully adjust the bearings and you'll have something that performs almost anything made today.
