Question:

Bracket Mount for my Canon HG10 Camcorder?

I have a Canon HG10 high definition camcorder. The camcorder has a shoe mount so that I can put my microphone on top. However I also want to put my video light on at the same time, so I will require a bracket mount. Will this bracket work in order to have the microphone and light working at the same time?Hama Flash Bracket 30 x 180mm

Answer:

Yes, that bracket will work because the accessory shoe is standard sized. I use one with my small Sony DV/HDV camcorder. It depends on what mic and what light you use. If the light or the mic depend on the connections in the proprietary Canon connector for power or feeding audio into the camera, then one or the other will work - but not both at the same time. If neither depend on the proprietary connection in the camcorder accessory shoe, and you are using it merely for a mounting place, then you are good to go. I searched all sorts of combinations, but could not come up with what I was looking for to recommend to you - I also use an angled camera bracket. If you do a search at the US amazon using bower two shoe bracket you'll see what I mean. Doing that search at the UK amazon does not provide an equivalent result.
