I recently got braces for my horribly crooked teeth. Well the night I got home from the orthodontist, a bracket popped off of my tooth (leaving the glue on my tooth) but is still attached to the wire. Well the teeth around it emediately started to hurt. My parents don't listen to anything I say so going back to the ortho isn't an option for a few days. Two more brackets around the first have also come loose and still attached to the wire. Is it safe to remove them by simpy cutting the colored bands? If not, how do I stop these things from coming off?
Leave the brackets attached to the wire and let your orthodontist remove them. You can prevent more brackets from coming off by following the what not to eat guidelines you should have been given. If this is not the case, then it could be your bite that is causing the problem and there is nothing you can do about that. The orthodontist will have to make you a biteplate to wear until your teeth straightens out to the point that the brackets will not be sheared off.
