Question:

Broken braces bracket?

A bracket fell off my tooth. The wire is just hanging out there. Its poking me.its really annoying. What should i do?Will my teeth get messed up over this one broken bracket? My next appointment is in 6 weeks.should I go sooner or is it not a big deal?

Answer:

The only bracket I've broken was a back hook one and they didn't care about it. It was one of only two they could get on since my teeth are so tiny. Seems I didn't need it in the first place because they have yet to replace it. Call them first. Let them know. Ask what to do. And stop eating the wrong stuff. It WILL prolong your treatment, it CAN do permanent damage to your teeth, and you or your parents WILL have to pay more. I pay $152 per appointment out of my own pocket, not to mention the $760 down payment. This junk is expensive. I take care of it. I won't deliberately screw myself into paying more for my own stupidity and stubbornness. If your parents have been paying, maybe they should flip the bill over to you and see if you become more careful. ;)
Take the rubber band off from around the broken bracket and take the bracket out of your mouth so it stops poking you. Then call your orthodontist, they will either schedule a quick apt to glue it back on for you, or tell you to wait, whatever they think it best. Good luck!
i have had braces and the first time on fell off i freaked a little too, but it happens a lot so don't worry. Your teeth shouldn't be messed up it it isn't on there for a few weeks, but if it is uncomfortable then call the orthodontist and they can schedule and quick meeting to glue a new one on.
Bracket For Braces
Grab a nail clipper and clip off the long wire as close to the next bracket as possible. Call your orthodontist office and make an appt as soon as possible. It is not that big a deal if you can clip of the hanging wireotherwise it is a big deal, cause it will continue to poke the side of your cheek. No your teeth won't get messed up because of this. And your dentists office will move your appointment closer and not wait until the 6 weeks to get the problem fixed. Good luck!
