Question:

Burning Aluminum/Tin?

Does anyone know FOR SURE if burning tin OR aluminum gives of any type of toxic/poisonous/harmful fumes? i.e. an aluminum/tin pipe screens? Any answers would be great as long as your SURE...my health is at risk! =P Thanks!

Answer:

Depends on how unhealthy they're. Aluminum pits and scars quite speedy. You possibly higher off giving them away (or tossing them) and getting a inexpensive new set of teflon lined pans. I purchase a brand new set each and every yr and deliver my historical set away.
Tin is an element and does not contain lead. Galvanizing means Zinc coated and has nothing to do with sulfur. Any and all metals are toxic. Inhaling any metal fumes can lead to heavy metal poisoning. Why would you want to burn metal to dispose of it anyway? Most metals are recyclable and you can be paid to recycle them.
First, anything going on that is hot enough to burn Aluminum should have your attention. Typical Aluminum will be safe if it is not interactied with anything else, but any coatings or other metals can change that. Tin is another story. There is lead in it and that is not good to breath. Also, tin may be galvanized. If this is the case you may smell the odor of a match. That is because it is releasing sulfur into the air and you should get away now, it can and will kill you.
Tin is an element--tin can is a misnomer, because cans are now made with steel. The solder used to have lead in it, but now it apparently doesn't (make sure it's from the US, though--I can't vouch for can solder from other countries.) Solder, like for stained glass, is usually 40-50% lead and the rest tin, unless you get the lead-free kind (I don't know what the other element is in that case. Or elements. I don't know what's in lead-free solder, I'll just say that.) I doubt that souvenir paraphernalia is held to the same manufacturing standards as food containers, because it isn't monitored or regulated by the government. Since, y'know, it's for drugs. If your drug paraphernalia is from another country--dude, you have no idea what's in there. It could be aluminum, lead, steel, tin, iron, mercury-coated arsenic...who knows. It's probably scrap metal somebody picked up in a dump somewhere. I doubt that it's 100% safe--it's for drugs! You're putting in an illegal substance! The manufacturers know you're not going to sue them because you got sick from smoking drugs out of their paraphernalia. So they can make it out of whatever they please. Probably something veeerrrry cheap. Stop smoking, dude! Just stop because I told you to! I know it's bad for you, and you don't have to go around collecting information on why it's bad. Just believe me, it's bad for you. So stop because SweetPea said you should.
