Question:

Busbars description? (electrical distribution substation)?

I‘m doing a project in electrical distribution. I have to give a short description on each component and im having trouble finding info on busbars. A short description or link will be awesome.also cooking for info on cooling and voltage transformers (not power transformers the one that steps down for measuring)

Answer:

There are two general types of bus bar. These are rectangular and pipe type. The rectangular one are widely used in switchgear equipment. Depending on the current rating, they can be perhaps one half inch thick and 3 inches wide. Connections are made to them using compression fittings with holes for bolting the connectors to the bus bars. Circular bus bars (actually pipe) are mostly used in sub-stations. They are connected to other equipment (cable) with clamps which fit around the pipe. Bus bars are usually copper; some having noble metal plating at connection points. TexMav
