Question:

Can cat litter be used to make cement?

I'm trying to go green and I have clay cat litter. I know when cat litter gets overly wet it can resemble cement. But can it be used for making cement? Not sure what the recipe for cement is. I thought it was clay.

Answer:

no
Are you suggesting to reduce/sanitize/recycle/reuse?
No, cat litter will not make good cement.
It hardens to come a compound like cement but not nearly a strong.
No. Conrete and Cement are two different things. Cement is a raw material. It is also known as portland cement. It is a ground stone, that when mixed with water hardened, turns into a solid and holds its integrity even when rewetted. Concrete is a mixture of equal parts cement, gravel, and sand. Basically, the sand and gravel are used to cut the cement and the different structures of the sand and gravel give the cement more strength. Simple cat litter is clay granules, which is not appropriate for concrete. It dries into a hard mass, but it turns to mud again when it is wet.
