can engineered flooring be used in a bathroom?
if its laminate yes.. but dont use the no glue type. you want the joints to be glued and edges to be sealed with silicone
By engineered flooring, do you mean laminate? If so, then YES. Basically, any type of floor covering can be used, even carpet, although not recommended.
You should not use laminate or engineered hardwood in a bathroom. The moisture and humidity will warp either one. I work in the flooring industry and your best bet would be ceramic or vinyl sheet goods.
Yes.. they can be so used.. but remember that water on an engineered flooring is not the best and in a bathroom, a flooring is more suseptible to having water on it.... I have always had tile in a bathroom and that is what I would recommend.. of if tile is not feasible, a good linoleum type flooring
A neighbor of ours just covered Engineered Wood with Laminate because his wife kept spilling water on the Engineered Wood as she watered the plants. He tried to remove the stains by sanding, but as soon as he tried to refinish it, the stains reappeared. A Bathroom will be far worse than a family room. I'd talk to the home store, or some other person here may have advice, but i really think that Laminate Flooring is almost solid plastic and really is built for locations where you could get some water. I know there are different underlayment systems with laminate, and some may be incompatible, and water in mass quantities, such as a sink or toilet overflowing, may get into any cracks and under the laminate to the underlayment, so you better get some better advice than mine on laminate before you use it in the bathroom. I do know that my brother installed laminate in his house and they wash the floor often because of one of their children and it looks great after 5 years.
