Question:

Can I charge inverter battery from ac generated by inverter using small motor with alternator?

just bought an inverter. is it possible to connect a small motor with alternator to the AC generated by the inverter, and then use as a charger to charge the battery connected to the inverter so that as the battery is giving power to the appliances connected to the inverter, the charger is charging the battery thus ensuring that the battery wount go down?

Answer:

Been there and done it all. You need a generator and voltage regulator not an alternator to do what you wish to accomplish. What I did was get an extra bracket made to hold the generator and add an additional pulley to the crankshaft to drive the generator. If you do not have an A/C then you can just add an A/C pulley which will give you an additional pulley for the generator belt.
If this simple idea worked, it would be making more energy than it expended, which as of yet hasn't really been done.
it sounds like that may theoretically work ... just make sure of 2 things ... (1) the current/voltage is strong enough so that it can keep up with the rate of discharge by the appliances ...and.... (2) you dont over charge the inverter's battery, i think some rechargable batteries might experience a shorten lifespan if constantly charged, rather than charged up - discharged- charged up- discharged.... but i dont know 4 sure, but it does sound like it should work tho....
Yes... with the understanding that: You have created a circuit of the power utility, inverter, charger, and battery. In that order. I'm unsure why, however, that you would connect the battery to the inverter. Just make sure that the inverter can do that first. Sometimes there may be alternative voltages on the output of the inverter. If you want an uninterruptible power supply, just keep charging the battery, and don't connect the output of the battery to anything else but appliances designed for your battery.
