Question:

Can I fix my one piece hockey stick?

I have a Warrior Dolomite 1 Piece hockey stick with a broken blade. Is it possible to cut the shaft in the right spot and replace the blade with a new Warrior Dolomite Tapered blade? All warrior blades are tapered FYI. I can see a ring around the shaft where it looks like the blade was fused to the stick. I guess what I‘m asking is will a tapered blade fit into the shaft? I love the shaft and would like to be able to salvage it, but i am only willing to replace it with the above warrior blade.

Answer:

The Dolomite one-piece is a fused two piece, exactly the same as the shaft+blade combo. That ring you see is the fuse point. Use a knife and cut the top layer around that ring to free up the epoxy and the paint so you have less to get through. Heat it up with a heat gun and pull it out like you would a normal blade. If you don't know how or haven't done it before your local hockey store should help you for a small fee, or for free if you buy the blade. The blade *should* come out, but some people will have trouble depending on the amount of heat-activated epoxy used in the factory. If it won't come out, you will have to cut it there and chisel out the tenon of the blade. If done correctly you will have a retail Dolomite 2 tapered shaft that will accept tapered blades with relative ease. You may need to alter the hole to get blades to fit as this isn't an exact science. The Warrior Dolomite blade will work if done correctly. If you decide to flip the shaft, the Warrior AK-27 blades or the soon-to-be-released Warrior Johnson blades will fit in the top of the shaft (or any standard blade for that matter). Doing so will alter the kickpoint and flex profile, so it won't feel like the exact same shaft afterwards.
i havent used a warrior but have fixed a stick in that situation before. you can try cutting off the broken blade and see if the replacement blade fits there. if that doesn't work, you should be able to flip the stick and put the blade on the end where the handle of the stick normally is. You might have to do this because the replacement blade may not fit in the handle. It didn't when the blade of my synergy broke, so I did what I said about and it worked out for me.
Yes you can. Cut it off a little before the ring just to be sure it doesn't go in earlier, and cut off more to widen it out. you can always take more off but you can't add back on. And for that matter, you should be able to use any tapered blade except TPS- they use a slightly different size. stephens- that would require a standard blade, and it would completely ruin the tapered flex. If he does it the way he's proposing, which does work, It will preserve the one piece feel and operate exactly like a store bought tapered shaft.
