I am struggling through many companies and websites trying to find info on getting internet at my house. I live 2 miles out of town (small town of only 3.000) and need better internet than dial up. After talking to my techy buddies they said i should go with cable/ coaxial internet. I DO have the cable box on my property for cable tv, however it hasn't been in use for over a decade. Is there any way I can track down the other end of the cable or get cable internet to my house? - Any info would be greatly appreciated, i've spent way too long trying to research this problem. Thanks in advance!
The installer will have plenty of coax cable to use.
If you call the cable company and tell them you want internet service, they will usually come out and install the modem/router for you. This generally includes any necessary cabling. If your service is over a decade old, it's certainly time for some new cable!
research in your area if there is anything like we have in our area, they call it Silo wireless and it has cable all beat to H+++. We had it when it was either dial up or satellite access, tripped upon those folks and are still with them 4 years later after a move back into the city. Cable internet is SLOW, my best friends wife went form DSL to cable and now just whines because access is so slow. My buddy cannot even play online poker as it is that slow.
