I needed to replace the thermal fuse in my dryer and when I pulled the dryer out I noticed a bad kink in the 3/8 copper tubing near the connection to the dryer. Here in MN it is very common to use copper for natural gas appliances. My question is, can I simply re-flare my copper end and connect it back up just like it was? I am reading a lot about these flex pipe installation kits I really don‘t want to spend the money on something I don‘t need.OK to just connect it back up like it was?
If you know what you are doing, then yes, remove the kinked section of copper line and flare both ends and connect with a inline copper connector. Test with a soap and water solution after making connection. Remember, this is nothing to fool around with. If you are not 100% sure, then hire a pro.
If the pipe was kinked there is a danger of a leak there. New equipment is cheaper than a funeral.
