I am shooting a film and want to set up my camera in the bed of my pickup truck and film into a car that would ideally be towed behind mine. I want to link the two cars together so the car in back being filmed is facing forward toward the back of the pickup truck. However, I'm afraid this will mess up the axles in the car being towed, even if it is in neutral. My pickup truck is a 2008 Honda Ridgeline and the car being towed is a 1997 Honda CRV.I am shooting TONIGHT so any input ASAP would be greatly appreciated! If you leave your name I will be sure to mention you in the Special Thanks section of the credits at the end of the film. Thanks guys.
Of course. Just make sure you hook it up to the frame of the car. it can roll all day long in neutral. have good towing support as well: tow bar, chains, or relative to that. If you want it to roll without a driver being seen, a bar is best, but if someone will be in it then no problem.
Maybe. What kind and weight of trailer, how many tires and axles? With the Camaro on the trailer and at the right point, what is your tongue weight? Now open the door on your 1500 and look for the sticker that lists the tow capacity. (Or look in the manual if you still have it in the glove box.) If that number is greater than the weight you got above, you can.
depends if vehicle being towed is auto or stick and how far/fast/ u tow . Why not just drive the CRV then u r not trying to film with the jerk and bounce of pulling it as well as the movement of the tow vehicle?
you can, but to be safe, you need to buy a tow bar. tow bars are purpose-built for towing a vehicle with all 4 wheels still on the ground. if that's out of the question, you can use tow straps, but be sure to leave enough space between the vehicles for the CR-V to slow down if you have to stop the Ridgeline quickly.
Get a tow bar. That is the only safe way to do it. Straps and chains leave too much slack that can put stress on both vehicles whereas the tow bar keeps a set distance and essentially links the cars much like the cars of a train. Other than that, if you plan on using any other means, I hope you don't like either vehicle too much.
