I am not so sure there is a normal tire any more! It used to be that there were summer tires and snow tires. Then came all weather tires. Now there are summer dry tires, summer rain tires, all weather summer tires, snow tires, studded snow tires, winter all weather tires and racing slicks. If you have a good all weather tire and drive according to the conditions most tires that come stock on a car will do. But some where (depending to some degree on driving skills) roads can become impassable for them. Even with studded snow tires on a jacked up jeep there is a time to just stay put! When in doubt, stay off the roads!
