if you know enough about computers that you want to switch out your cpu you should know enough to figure out if the sockets will match or not, if you can't figure out what socket your mobo or the cpu is you probably shouldn't be messeing with it
Socket AM3+ is for bulldozer and you only have an am3. Wikipedia states It will retain backward compatibility with Socket AM3 motherboards (as per motherboard manufacturer choice and if BIOS updates are provided, however this not officially supported by AMD; AM3+ motherboards will be backward-compatible with AM3 processors. Long story short no unless your motherboard had an update on the bios which'll support it
