Question:

Can I use bleach without washing/putting in washing machine?

I just recently purchased an aviator jacket (genuine leather) on ebay and the polyester, wool-like lining has yellowed. I am thinking of using bleach to actually make it whiter, but being leather outer lining, I cannot actually let the jacket touch water at all!!! So can I actually put some white oxygen bleach with hot water, and using a damp cloth rub the bleach solution over the inner lining? Someone PLEASE help! :( so confused here.

Answer:

I think this would possibly damage the leather and destroy the whole coat. Take the jacket to a seamstress or tailor and have the lining replaced.
This sounds like an accident waiting to happen to me:( I would not trust using bleach where it could seep through to the leather. Leather can stain. I doubt that rubbing a damp solution over the liner will give you a satisfactory result anyway. At best, the yellowed lining might look splotchy. I would consult a professional dry cleaner for advice.
Sure. Use it. You own the jacket. You can do whatever you want. But a question for you. How are you going to rinse the bleach out? Why not just take it to a leather cleaner? Your jacket, your money, you choice
