Question:

Can I use wax paper instead of parchment paper?

I am making a pie crust for a coconut cream pie and the recipe tells me that I need to line the pastry with parchment paper and put pie weights or beans on topI don't have any parchment paper so would it be okay to use wax paper instead?

Answer:

When you have been searching, have you found a recipe you really like? Isn't it possible to just cut the recipe in half? I did some searching myself you're right - they all are 6-8 servings!
Hey EinsteinJust make the recipe proportionately smaller.
No, the wax will heat up and smell like crayons! That happened to me onceWhen I make pie crust I never bother with those pie weightsI almost think you don't need itI just cook it and if there's a 'bubble' type of bump, I carefully pop it with a knife and if poofs back downSome recipe instructions are so perfectionist.
