Just plain ban these goddamn things? Have they ever stopped an actual auto theft? Or do they just sound off, all freakin‘ day?
We don't need car theft control - we need car thief control! Every insurance payer who fits him or herself out with a 24 hour sniper team watching over their car should receive a 100% discount! AND a free licence or permit to declare open season on car thieves, plus a free pass a la Jack McCoy upon provision of video tape identifying the newly deceased as a perpetrator. Well - they used to hang 'em for stealing horses, didn't they? No - I don't think they stop car theft - it's like the 'safeguards' in place for preventing abuse here of police use of DNA samples (who guards that guard while that guard oppresses you?) - wherever there is any way it can be abused, it will be. My ex parked her car at a railway station once - she came back to find the car there - but the alarm system missing! True story!
