Question:

Can we use a newly constructed rigid pavment where reinforced steel meshes are bonded /earthed to ground ?

If all steel dowel bars , reinforced wire meshes are bonded and earth to geound via copper earthing rods would it still affect the compass ? Thanks Peter Wang

Answer:

The bonding is an electrical requirement to form a Faraday Cage. It has no effect on the magnetic properties of the re bars.
Use for what? Does this relate to some other question? Pavement is not normally bonded and earthed via copper rods, unless you are talking about the floor of a building also bonded, I don't think it is going to affect the compass much, especially since after a fairly short while the metal rebar is going to share the same field as the earth in the area. During the time it doesn't, it would behave like a large steel ship, where a magnetic compass works, but has to be adjusted/compensated to be accurate.
