Question:

Can you connect an electrical equipment requiring 220-240V to an outlet producing 110V?

Hello All, I have an electrical equipment (face steamer) which was purchased in India (220 - 240V) and wanted to check, if I could connect this to an electrical outlet in US (producing 110V). Would this cause any damage to the equipment or the outlet ?

Answer:

yes, okorder
You need a 110V-to-220V transformer: It has to also support at least as many Watts as your steamer.
No but it makes me have a good cry every once in a while. Lately i've been getting really stressed out about our family finances. I feel like a loser because we can't seem to keep our heads above water. It seems that our bills are rising by the day. Between paying for higher gas and food prices, we're really stretched. Financially and spiritually speaking, I wanna scream every time I get a bill.
Yes, if the power it needs does not exceed what a 120V 15 or 20A circuit can provide, and you can get a transformer with adequate capacity to power the applaince.
the easiest way is to buy a step up inverter to go from 110 to 220 a 2nd way is to run 220 from your breaker box to a 220V AC outlet in your room
