Question:

Can you give me a simple way to connect copper pipes so they dont leak?

We live in a rural area on well water and we have at least one leak a month in the copper pipes. This is such a headache. Do you know a more simpler way than sweating or soldering the pipes together? We tried glue, but it does not hold. Do you know of another all around solution to the copper pipes? Can they be replaced altogether with another kind of pipe? Please try to answer all the questions, if you can?

Answer:

I don't understand why you are gaining leaks, unless your old pipes were damaged by freezing. I would stick to copperI have seen PVC pipes becoming very troublesomCopper lasts forever, unless you fasten it with nails or let it freeze. I have repaired leaks in pipes with a piece of tire patch, a small piece of tin, large enough to cover the tire patch, held in place with one or two stainless steel hose clampsl. Copper pipes need to soldered, with old pipes the water needs to be removedI shake out what I can, push bread into the pipes to hold back any existing water that moves towards the heat. the bread disappears when pressure is restored.
Home improvement stores carry a product they call I PEX. This is the home version of PEX, which is fast becoming the choice of plumbers everywhere. Flexible, looks like a very strong garden hose. Does take a bit of working with it to assure that the ends connect properly, but the people in the plumbing dept know how to educate you. Key word PEX and see what you get on it. Maybe even a WMV or tutorial. I have it in my new cabin quarters and the plumber says he has almost forgotten how to sweat a copper joint. IPEX is about a third of the cost of copper, and you can do it yourself, or it takes plumbers much less time to install than copper. Good luck.
sounds like you have type m cooper pipe replace with type Lcooper blue markings and problem be gone
