Question:

can you help me solve the problem with my POTTERTON NETAHEAT 80e BOILER? ?

Hi , i have a problem with my boiler, the electronic ignition ignites the pilot light then immediately after ignition the pilot light goes out. This repeats for anything upto an hour or sometimes longer so the burners on the boiler dont come on could it be a relay ,or a faulty gas valve or a pcb any ideas your help would be very much appreciated.

Answer:

ussaly when you light a pilot you have to hold the pilot button down keeping the pilot lit up to three minutes if it still goes out after that long you may have a bad heat sensor to the control thermostat or a bad control therm.
locate the flame senser,,it will probably be right there in the pilot assembly, behind the spark electrode or mini-igniter,whichever that boiler has...you need to rub the flame senser with a scotchbrite pad or steel wool,,of course turn tstat off and turn power off to boiler 1st...be careful not to damage the spark electrode/mini-igniter while cleaning the flame senser,,hopefully its accessable without removing the pilot assembly...the flame senser is a thin metal rod, about 2 long or so,,it has one wire connected to the bottom end,,,,they need to be cleaned off occasionally, esp as boiler gets older..........dan
