Question:

Car Alarm and storage?

I am going to put my truck in storage. It has a Sidewinder 5000 alarm. I am not going to arm the alarm so it will be off. If the battery runs down could it still trigger the alarm even if it is off? Thanks

Answer:

knowing the vehicle info would help but it should not be too bad to do. the price does depend on what has failed.
u need to disconnect the battery completely for storage. ** make sure ur radio is SWITCHED OFF.before u disconnect the battery so u don't have a theft code tripped. ** also would be best to check/fill ur battery with water before u store it and if possible use a battery charger to completely charge the batterysince if it gets below about 4 volts it will freeze.
If you are storing your vehicle, you should either use a low amp battery charger, or even just disconnect the battery all together. There are other variables depending on storage time, location, and conditions. If you need or want more complete storage information, please include details such as your location, the storage facility, indoors or out, the estimated time frame for storage, and any more information. This will help get you a better informed and more accurate and complete answer.
I dont think so, because this is how you fix a battery problem or mechanical problem with your truck. I can tell you a way to find out though, turn off the alarm and disconnect the black or negative terminal if the alarm goes off you answered your question.
