Question:

CAR ALARM GOES OFF BY ITSELF?

So yesterday my husband and I purchased a used 2011 Ford Escape from a pre-owned dealership. It runs well, everything is good but sometimes a the car alarm goes off by itself. We‘re gonna call our dealership in a bit but does anyone know why this could be happening? Thank you!

Answer:

If it's a factory alarm check the hood switch adjustment in the engine compartment. If it's not set high/tight enough to the hood when the wind blows through the radiator it lifts the hood just enough to trigger the alarm.
it happens often when the area is windy they are fitted with a motion sensor .or if a bus or lorry goes by it close .leaving a window open will also do it
The alarm could be tied into the dome lights.make sure you aren't leaving any dome lights on when the vehicle is off. Also, could be that it is simply set to be too sensitive. Other than that, something could be hooked up wrong or the alarm unit could simply be defective.
You might decide you want something else, more power or something like that, but for now, just have fun riding.
