I have a 98 mazda protege and every time I stick my key in the ignition. I pull the key out and it keeps honking and eventually stops. Someone help me
you need to change the battery out in the remote.
Sounds like the door lock switch, isn't triggering the alarm to disengage. Try locking your doors, and using the key to open the passenger side door first, then unlock the driver side door and start the engine as normal. If the alarm doesn't sound then the door lock switch is the problem. Another problem could be if your car uses an electronic chip on the key. It may have became damaged, and is no longer disabling the alarm system as it should. You may have to replace the key with another from the dealership. (especially if this has happened after having a new key made from wal-mart or other key grinding place.)
