I have a 2001 New Beetle. Everything is fine. No lights are on. Got everything rang needed to be fix. After work I drove him and then I parked and turned my engine off. Then I open my car door, and the alarm went off. And it was really loud. And it kept doing that until I got out of the car and locked my car. Then I unlocked it and open the door and no alarm went off. What‘s going on?!
Not terribly unusual but it can be very annoying. If this only happens on rare occasion, just try and live with it. If If it becomes too bothersome, I recommend that you first get a personal referral to an independent auto repair shop. Ask them to take a look and try to diagnose the problem. Alternatively, if it's an after market alarm, get on the company web site and ask for assistance.
