Ok when a carbon fiber part is being made, is it molded or is it just wrapped around the part? or if its molded, what is used to support the CF. it would be odd just to have CF i believe.
The carbon fibers are generally woven into a cloth that is treated with an epoxy prepolymer. The gooey cloth is then laid up into the final shape and heated to cure it. The process looks a lot like making fiberglas parts (from fiberglas cloth and polyester resin with catalyst), except that the epoxy usually is heated for a good cure.
